Kingfisher Dee – Lights

A perfect spring morning on the River Dee at Rivercatcher and in these conditions all over the country Kingfishers are beginning to dig their tunnels. It is the only time of the year when you will see Kingfishers with earth on their bills and it can take weeks to complete a tunnel 3 feet into the river-bank.During this early morning activity the male will catch prey and present it to the female to bond the pair together.Copulation then takes place and all this is usually out of view of the camera!
